Bissonnette, Marcel: Born in Montreal, Que. on 02 September 1935, residing in Windsor, ON passed away at Hospice Village on 27 April 2014. Marcel joined the Canadian Army (Royal Canadian Army Pay Corp) in Jan 1956 retired with rank of CWO, during his service he had one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Egypt (Ismalia) from Nov 1978 to May 1979, decorations: SSM with NATO Clasp, UNEF2, 1977 Jubilee Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal and CD2.

Cook, David: Born in Central Chebogue, NS on 08 June 1940, resident of Rusagonis, NB passed away on 16 April 2014. Dave joined Royal Canadian Corps Signals in September 1956 released in Nov 1968, Trade R&TG Op, retired with rank of Sgt. During his service he had one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Congo in 1962, Decorations: ONUC (Congo), Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal and CD.

Player, Richard: Born Cape Vincent, New York USA on 31 Oct 1938, resident Riverview NB passed away on 27 April 2014 Richard joined Royal Canadian Service Corp in June 1957 released in Nov 1967 rank of Private, during his service he had a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Egypt in 1963 and one in Cyprus 1966. Decorations: United Nations Medal for Egypt and Cyprus, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal.

Tays, Florence Lenora A resident of Fredericton NB, Born in St John’s Newfoundland, passed away in Fredericton NB on the 7th August 2012. Florence graduated from St Thomas University with a Bachelor of Social Work and went on to obtain her Masters in Social Work from Dalhousie University. She enjoyed her career with Veteran’s Affairs of over 30 years.

As a Service Officer with the Legion I (Fred LeBlanc) had the pleasure of meeting and working with Florence. She had a heart as big as outdoors and it was for the Veterans, she would go out of her way to make sure they received the services they deserved and for this reason I felt she had a place with our veterans in the “Last Posting”

Teakles, Donald Allen (WO Ret) A resident of Waasis NB born in Sussex NB on the 02 Aug 1949 passed away at Saint John Regional Hospital in Saint John NB on 10th November 2012, Don Served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 27 years, during his service he served with the Armoured as Gunner Driver and Electrical Mechanical Engineer as a Vehicle Tech. He also served on United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in Cyprus in 1968 and 1973 and 1974. His decorations are: Canadian Decoration with one clasp, NATO, UN Medal for Cyprus and Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal (CPSM).

Maybee Kenneth H (Capt) A resident of New Maryland NB (South of Fredericton), born in Montreal PQ on 15 June 1937 passed away on 17 October 2012. Ken served with Armoured Corp from 1954 to 1993, during his service he was posted to Germany in 1955 to 1957, 1969 to 1971 and 1987 to 1990, in Egypt 1959-1960 and 1962-63, in Cyprus 1977. He was Clasps, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal (CPSM) and Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Pottle, Steven Allen A resident of Stephenville Newfoundland, born in Endeavour Sask, passed away on the 08 September 2012. Steve served in the Communication and Electronics branch (Signals) of the Canadian Forces for 33 years, retired in 2001. During his service he had two United Nations Peacekeeping tours in Cyprus and one in Golan Heights (middle east). He was decorated with the United Nations Medal for Cyprus and Golan Heights, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal (CPSM), NATO and CD (Canadian Decoration) with 2 clasps.

Dow, Robert Charles Sr “Bobby” A resident of Fredericton, born on 19 July 1931 in Kingsclear NB passed away on the 09 July 2012, he served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD) from 1950 to 1986, during his service he had United Nation Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus and Golan Heights (UNDOF) he also had two tours in Germany, he was a member of the RCD boxing and hockey teams. After his retirement he coached Little League Baseball and the first all female hockey team in Fredericton NB, umpired Minor Baseball and refereed for the Youth Hockey Officials Association, he was also a leader for the 3rd Fredericton Wolf Cub Pack. His was decorated with: the Queen Jubilee, CCM, CD with 2 Clasps, SSM and United Nations Medal for Golan Heights and Cyprus and the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal (CPSM).

Gordon, Maurice John A resident of Quispamsis NB, Born in Saint John New Brunswick on the 10 May 1940 passed away In Saint John on19th June 2012, Maurice (Moe) served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD) as a crewman from 1961 to 1970, during his service he had a peacekeeping mission in Cyprus in 1965. He was decorated with: United Nation Medal for Cyprus and the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal (CPSM).

Chase, George Walter (Wally) Resident of Chipman NB, born in Brigg's Corner NB on the 10th September 1929 Passed away at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton on 2nd February 2012, Wally served with RC Signals from October 1959 to February 1985 his trade was as a Radio Operator, during his service he had one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus from October 1968 to March 1969, decorations CPSM, UN Medal and CD.

Wade, Robert (Bob) Cecil Cecil Born in Devon New Brunswick on the 21 March 1930 passed away at the QE II in Halifax on 5th January 2012, Bob first enlisted with the Royal Canadian Signals Corp in 1949 to 1953, re-enlisted with Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineer in 1956 as a Radio Tech until 1983, during his service he served in Germany, Northwest Territories and one United Nation Peacekeeping tour in Egypt (Camp Rafah) from Feb 1963 to April 1964, Bob also had his Parachutist wings, his decorations were: Special Service Medal (NATO), United Nations (Egypt) Medal, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal and the Canadian Decoration.

Soucy, Gaston Born in Baker Brook New Brunswick on the 1st February 1943 passed away at his residence in Baker Brook NB on the 20th of September 2011. Gaston served with RCHA and retired as SGT, during his service he had one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus in 1972, he was awarded the CD with Bar, UN (Cyprus) medal, CPSM and NATO medal.

Russell, Harry A (MWO) Born in Chatham NB on 04 Dec 1926 passed away in Fredericton NB on 18 May 2011, Harry served during the Second World War with RCNVR from 1944 to 1946 demobilized the re-enlisted in the Army and was posted to Royal Canadian Signal Corps in Kingston and retired in 1980. During his service his posting were: 1953/54 Cdn Comm Z Dets in Kure Japan, 25 CIB Sigs, CMMFE Tokyo Japan, 1958/59 MCCD Vietnam (Indo-China) 1961 57 Cdn Sigs Unit (ONUC) Congo, 1974 Chief ComOp HQ UNEF Cairo. His decorations were Burma Star, CVSM with Clasp, War Medals 1939-45, ONUC (Congo), UNEF (Cairo) ICSC (Indo-China) CPSM and CD with Clasps.

Klugh, Michael Archie Roger , born in Chemainus BC on 13 May 1946 passed away in Vancouver BC on the 23 December 2010. Mike served from 16 November 1962 to 19 April 1966 and from 31 January 1980 to 01 December 1982 during his time he served as a Peacekeeper in Cyprus (OP Snowgoose) in 1980-81.

Fuzer, Jack of Fredericton NB, Born in Stratford Ontario on 26 March 1931 passed away in Fredericton NB on 20 October 2010, Jack served with Royal Canadian Service Corps, during his service he had tours in Korea and Cyprus. Jack was one of the eleven founding members of The Blue Helmets.

Jennex, Gerald R (Chinker) Born in Halifax NS on the 4th Sept 1931 Passed away in Masstown NS on the 21st February 2010. Chinker was in RC Sigs from 1950 to 1976, during his military time he served as a peacekeeper in Egypt 1956 and 1974, Congo 1960/61, Cyprus 1967/68, 1970 and 1976 and Germany 1971/72 his trades were Lineman and Rad-Op. One of his hobbies was as an Amateur Radio Operator with the Callsign VE1GRJ.

Joordens Thom: Passed away at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB on the 23rd November 2009. Born in Blerick Holland on the 22nd of April 1931, Thom served from Dec 1954 to Jul 1973 he was with 1 Bn RCR, his trade was Pioneer. During his service he had two United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in Cyprus and was posted in Germany. He was the founder of the NATO organization.

George Poitras: Passed away in Halifax NS on the 15th February 2009. Born in Ituna Saskatchewan on 20 April 1932 he served his country from February 1954 to October 1978, his trade was as a Medical Technologist and during his service he had one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission with UNEF II in 1974, he will be sadly missed, may he Rest in Peace at his Last Posting.

Simard, LouisPassed away in Fredericton NB on 03 November 2009. Born Rimouski Quebec on the 10 May 1929. Louis served with the Canadian Guards from July 1951 to August 1983 as an Infantry and Supply Tech, during his service he had several United Nations Peacekeeping Missions and they are UNEF I (Egypt) twice, UNEF II (Egypt), UNDOF (Golan Heights) and UNFICYP (Cyprus) as well as service with NATO in Germany. Louis was one of The Blue Helmets founding members May he Rest In Peace at his last posting.

Gerrior, Laven: Passed way in Dartmouth, N.S. on the 23 October 2009. Born in Sydney, N.S. on the 28th July 1933, He served with RC Sigs from 15 April 1954 to 28 July 1983, during his military service he served as a United Nations Peacekeeper in the Congo 1961, Cyprus in 1964 and 1979 and Egypt 1977.

McLean, Charles H.G. passed away in Truro NS on the 24th August 2009. Born in Wainwright on 04th December 1930, served with 3 RCHA from Jan 1950 until Dec 1964, during his service he was in Korea in 1954 and also had a tour in Europe.

Winters, Harvey D: Born in Parrsboro, N.S. on the 22nd August 1929, passed away in Truro, N.S. on the 3rd January 2009. Served with RC Sigs (OWL/Rad Op) from 07 June 1951 to 27 Sept 1966, during his service he was posted to the following foreign areas: Korea March 1953 to March 1954, Congo March 1962 to September 1962

Cadger Jim: It is with great sadness that I report the passing of a good friend Jim Cadger. Jim passed away at Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB on Saturday May 31, 2008 with family at his side after suffering a cardiac arrest on Friday May 30, 2008. Born in the Miramichi area 04 March 1944 deceased 31 May 2008. His service in RC Sigs was from October 1961 to October 1970. Last posting was at CFB Gagetown (720 Comm Sqn). His last place of residence was in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Beatteay, Robert G. Born in Saint John NB on 14th January 1940 passed away in Saint John NB on the 29th July 2006, Robert served with 1st and 2nd Bn RCR from Feb 1962 to April 1976 During his service he served on one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus from Oct 1966 to April 1967.


Benson, Rodney Sterling Born on Grand Manan Island NB in the year 1948, passed away in Fredericton NB on the 07th December 2001, Rodney served with PPCLI from 1970 to 1978, during his service he served one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus.


Boyko, George Born in British Columbia on the 15th Nov 1940, passed away in Fredericton Oromocto NB area on the 29th July 2006, George served RCASC and RCAC, during his service he served one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Egypt UNEF 1 from May 1960 to Feb 1961.


Gayton, William (Bill) Born in St Stephen NB on 24 Dec 1935, passed away in St Stephen NB on 30th Dec 2008, Bill served in RCEME from Nov 1953 to Nov 1985, during his service he served in Egypt 1961, Cyprus 1964, Middle East 1977, Egypt UNEF 2 1978-1979 and in Germany from 1957 – 1959 and 1972 – 1975.


Mollon, Sidney Born in Sydney NS on 23 Sept 1919, passed away in Fredericton NB on 20th Feb 2008, Sidney served during the Second World War and then with RCASC from April 1954 to Nov 1970, during his service he served two United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in Cyprus in 1966 and 1969 to 1970.


Vroom, Charlie Born in St Stephen NB on 24 March 1925 passed away in Fredericton NB on the 20th Nov 2005, Charlie served in various Units during the Second World War and up to June 1967 (RCASC), during his service he had one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Egypt from Oct 1956 to Oct 1957.


Taylor, John S Born in Glace Bay Cape Breton NS on 22 Nov 1928 passed away in Oromocto NB on 22 Feb 2003, John served with RCD and 8th Cdn Hussars from Oct 1954 to Nov 1978, during his service he had one United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Egypt (UNEF) from Feb 1962 to Feb 1963.
